The moment someone says "goa trip",the first thing that comes to every one's mind or the first thing everyone talks about is the cheap booze and sultry beaches of goa....well thats very much true...but there is much more to goa than just booze n beaches as i found out in my recent trip to goa/dudhsagar...Me(shreyas) and 6 of my college buddies had gone to goadudhsagar for a 3day trip from may29-june1 2011...We had planned for trekking and camping on day1 of our trip at dudhsagar..dudhsagar is a beutiful waterfalls which is on the border of karnataka and goa..We left bangalore on may28(fri) night 930 by chennai vasco train...the next day morning at around 10am we reached the castle rock station..From castle rock station dudhsagr station/falls is about 13km...this was the starting point of our trek which was both tiring and at same time a wonderful experiance..At the castle rock station we started at milestone 24...to trek 13km we took around 6 hours and by 4-445 we reached dudhsagar falls which is at 38 milestone...while trekking we took breaks at regular intervals of 2-3 kms..It is mainly along railway track..few small tunnels come in d way..(its similar to sakleshpur railway trk)...Dusd sagar is probably one of the most beautiful falls ive seen in India.
..right next to the falls there is plain surface which is suitable for camping..that night we set up camp over der only...Even during night when it is pitch dark we can see the falls which appears "pure white"(..so d name dudh sagar)...During the day's trek we had carried 7-8 bottles of water...food included chapattis biscuits and snickers...The next day we got up and were ready by 930..At udhsgar station(which is small)..many goods trains pass by...passenger trains do pass by but only at particular times...We causgt a goods train at 930 and we reached the next stop "kulum" at around 1130..kullum is abt 13km from dudhsagar...We had brunch at kullum...(one thing a you will notice is that anywhere in goa liquor is damn cheap..every small hotel will serve liqour)..From kullum via taxi we reached nearby bus staion...there we causght a "fully crowded" bus to panjim..(panjim is capital of goa and probably most developed city)..we reached panjim at around 2-230...At panjim we caught a bus to baga beach and reached baga at around 5...Now baga is one of the msot famous attractions in goa...there u find beach, water sports, large number of discos, bars and watering holes....not to mention the foreign tourists..We took a villa near baga...for 7ppl charge was 2400 for 2 days..(arnd 330 per head)..at baga you can rent scooters at 200 per day..(petrol excluded) for roaming about...the rest of the day we enjoyed at baga beach....for non vegetarians there will be no problems regarding food..for vegies it s a slight problem but there r few places to eat...the liquor there is cheap and great....kaju fenny is one drink i recommend....there r quite a few discos which r open till 3am at night...If u r in a mood to dance u can go ahead and visit..Me and couple of my friends went to disc and wer der till 230pm..after that we hit beach again..(in goa beaches(especially baga) is open 24hrs...)...we hardly slept that night.....The next day at around 10am..all of us got ready and in our rented bikes went for sight seeing...We visted panjim city, harbour and margoa...all these places were beautiful..it was very hot n humid though...later that night at margoa we boarde the train at 930 and we reached banagalore the next day at 10am....3days in goa was a wonderful experiance...
